A massive fire has erupted at a factory in Wolverhampton, creating thick smoke that is billowing across the city. Following reports of loud explosions, emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene on Sunbeam Street, located near Upper Villiers Street in the Blakenhall area, shortly after 7:30 AM.
Dramatic images show large clouds of black smoke rising from the site, prompting officials to advise local residents to steer clear of the vicinity and secure their doors and windows to minimize exposure to potential toxins.
A representative from the West Midlands Fire Service reported, "We currently have eight fire engines, a 4×4 brigade response vehicle, and a hydraulic aerial platform actively working at the scene. Firefighters from multiple nearby stations, including Bilston, Fallings Park, Tipton, Willenhall, Haden Cross, Wednesbury, Dudley, and Walsall, are on hand. The first crew arrived within three minutes of being alerted to the incident."
The spokesperson further noted that this incident involves a fire within a factory building, and firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus are currently tackling the blaze using hose reel jets.
