Stephen Fishler, CEO of Metropolis Collectibles/Comic Connect, believes the theft played a pivotal role in boosting its value. "During its 11-year disappearance, its value skyrocketed. The thief inadvertently made Cage a fortune." Fishler draws an intriguing parallel to the theft of the Mona Lisa, which, after its recovery, became an iconic symbol of art.
"Just like the Mona Lisa, the recovery of 'Action No. 1' elevated it to an American cultural icon," Fishler explains.
